My name is Cody Thomas, I am 21. I live in the humid state of North Carolina. I am studying history education at Tennessee Temple University via the world wide web. Yes I am a nerd, and yes I am okay with that :) Ummm... more stuff about me... I love coffee, and due to my addiction and the need for wifi, my local Starbucks knows me by name (not sure that a good thing). I have been blessed with two horses. I have loved horses ever since I was little and God had provided many chances for that love to grow. When I was 12 my family moved from NC to the middle of no where on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota (no joke, 300 miles from Walmart and a mall). We had gone out there on short term trips for 5 years, each year my parents felt God drawing them closer to the people there. In 2001 we went three times that summer and God made it clear that we were to move. Long story short a random rancher called my folks and said he had a house for rent on his ranch. So that spring we moved dove into missions work. I was elated since I got to ride horse almost everyday. My parents ended up working for Habitat for Humanity. In 2007 my mom was diagnosed with a rare aggressive form of breast cancer and we moved back here to NC for treatment. Praise God, she has been cancer free for almost 2 years. Ok so back to the facts... I eat just about anything and love sushi.
God has been calling me to missions ever since I was a kid. I was given the opportunity to go to Urbana 09, Innervarsity's missions conference, in 2009 and God made it clear that I was called to long term missions. I didn't want to go out of the country but God has been changing that. I feel He has called me to this trip and can't wait to meet all of you and see what He is going to do this summer!
